Out of the Box Cards is Jenny Baker, Daisy Mojave Holland, Grace Rae, and Phoebe Reith. Between us, we are social entrepreneurs, activists, a talented illustrator, feminists and friends.
Jenny has been passionate about gender equality since being made to wear a hat to church when she was little, and has has been an activist for change ever since - from sharing work and parenting when her sons were small to writing a book, setting up a charity and buying her granddaughters feminist t-shirts before they were two. She has worked in the charity sector all her life. A slightly-obsessed runner, she is author of Run for Your Life and blogs occasionally. @runningjenbaker on Instagram.
Daisy is a freelance illustrator/animator and BA art student. She graduated with a First Class Honours in Illustration with Animation from Manchester School of Art this summer. Her identity as a feminist illustrator has developed over the last few years, with a continued interest in creating humorous and socially driven illustrations that encourage female capability and unity. In her own time she’s brought out a range of feminist tees, you can find her other work at daisymojaveholland. As well as doing freelance work for clients like the BBC, Daisy’s spent the last two years learning 2D animation, and is hoping to build her identity as a feminist animator post graduation. Out of the Box cards is such a perfect endeavour because it marries her love of feminist social commentary with bold and playful illustration. Instagram
Grace grew up attending protests; to drop the debt, against the Iraq war, for Peace in Palestine and Israel and has been known to wear a badge that reads ‘enemy of apathy’. This sums her up well. She believes we can choose the world in which we wish to live, but it takes determination and action. Out of the Box cards in an exciting expression of this. In her day job she works with volunteers at a large conservation charity. In her evenings she juggles side projects - from campaigning with Refugees Welcome to bringing a Little Free Library to her local street.
Phoebe has lived and worked in London, New York and California. She focuses on strategy, funding and creative partnerships. Currently leading on the partnerships for HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Pageant, which will be live from London on 5 June 2022, broadcast around the world, she was previously the Director of Development at Sadler’s Wells. Prior to this she built out the team at Speakable PBC, a VC-backed startup, and the creators of Action Button, a tool which allows you to do something about the news you read by donating within the article.
